MPE Department of IUT Hosts MBSTU and Korean Students for Academic Lab Visit
The Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering (MPE) at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) had hosted a comprehensive academic visit for the first batch of Mechanical Engineering students from Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) on 10th July, 2025. The visit was arranged as part of the Workshop Practice course of MBSTU, aimed at providing students with hands-on exposure to advanced laboratory equipment and practices. A group of 10 international students from Kongju National University of South Korea also joined the visit. These students are currently in Bangladesh under the Official Development Assistance (ODA) program. As part of their academic and cultural exchange activities, they accompanied the MBSTU students to explore IUT's campus and laboratories.
The entire event was coordinated under the leadership of Professor Dr. M. Ahsan Habib, Head of the MPE Department at IUT, as part of the department’s commitment to fostering academic cooperation and social engagement. Professor Dr. Md. Iqbal Mahmud, Chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MBSTU, also accompanied his students during the visit.
The visit primarily focused on IUT’s central Workshop Laboratory, where students observed various machines and manufacturing processes in action. To broaden their understanding of applied engineering, the tour was extended to include visits to the Applied Mechanics and Materials Lab, Cezary Lab, Automobile Lab, Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer Lab, and the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Lab. The purpose was to offer students a well-rounded view of IUT’s experimental facilities and deepen their practical knowledge in mechanical engineering. Several dedicated faculty members from the MPE Department—Mr. Yasin Khan, Mr. Sefat Mahmud Siddique, Mr. Tahmid Arshil and Mr. Md. Hasibur Rahman Hamim—played key roles in guiding and supporting the visiting students throughout their tour.
A special highlight of the visit was an interactive and cheerful session with the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of IUT, Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam. He warmly welcomed the students and encouraged continued collaboration among the participating institutions, emphasizing the importance of regional and international academic exchanges.
This successful event marks a promising step toward enriching the educational journey of young engineers and building stronger ties between academic institutions both locally and globally.
