Organized by the IMechE IUT Student Chapter, the Speak Out for Engineering (SOfE) 2025 was uniquely hosted as a virtual competition broadcasted via Facebook Live. The primary purpose was to challenge young engineering students to present complex mechanical concepts clearly to a diverse, non-technical online audience. Over 25 participants delivered presentations, reaching hundreds of live viewers, including alumni and industry professionals. This digital initiative directly supported IUT's Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework by developing essential modern communication, public speaking, and digital literacy skills. The Facebook Live format proved to be a massive success for institutional branding, extending IUT's academic visibility far beyond the physical campus and engaging a global online community.

Organized by the IMechE IUT Student Chapter, the Orientation 2025 served as the premier onboarding event for freshmen and prospective members from the Mechanical and Production Engineering (MPE) department. While held in the Winter Semester, this event was essential for recruiting the talent that drove our major 2026 initiatives.

The purpose of the orientation was to introduce students to IMechE's global network, available professional development resources, and our chapter's activity roadmap. Over 150 students participated in the interactive session, which featured welcoming remarks from our faculty advisors and an inspiring keynote address highlighting the value of global engineering affiliations.

Key outcomes included a massive surge in new student registrations and heightened enthusiasm for upcoming technical projects. Institutionally, this event bolstered IUT's branding by officially aligning new students with a prestigious international professional body right from their first year. It directly supported Outcome-Based Education (OBE) by emphasizing lifelong learning, professional ethics, and early networking. Ultimately, the orientation cultivated a strong sense of community, inspiring our future engineers to take on leadership roles and actively engage in career-building extracurriculars.

Organized by the IMechE IUT Student Chapter, the IMechE Grand Prix 2026 was a dynamic robotics competition designed to test practical engineering skills. To ensure all competitors were well-prepared, the event was preceded by a comprehensive online RC Bot Workshop held late evening on February 20. This virtual session provided crucial training on the mechanics, electronics, and control systems needed to build a competitive remote-controlled bot.

The main racing event followed on March 7 at the IUT Basketball Court, where over 60 students participated, showcasing their custom-built RC bots in a high-energy environment. This initiative strongly supported IUT's Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework by demanding hands-on application of theoretical mechanics and electronics.

Key achievements included high student engagement, the successful integration of digital training with a physical competition, and rapid problem-solving under pressure. By fostering a vibrant robotics culture, the Grand Prix significantly boosted IUT's institutional branding, demonstrating our students' technical ingenuity, teamwork, and readiness for real-world engineering challenges.

Organized by the IMechE IUT Student Chapter, the inaugural episode of the “Infusion Podcast: Conversations Beyond the Classroom” was hosted to connect current engineering students with successful alumni. This virtual session featured Shamaita Shabnam, a Research and Teaching Assistant and MASc candidate at Carleton University, who shared her academic journey titled “From IUT to Canada.” The discussion heavily emphasized advanced materials research, providing invaluable practical insights for students focusing on metallurgy, heat treatment processes, and structural analysis. Conducted via Google Meet, the interactive session attracted numerous participants eager to explore international higher education pathways.

This initiative directly supported IUT's Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework by emphasizing lifelong learning and global professional awareness. Key achievements included robust student engagement and the successful launch of a digital mentorship platform. By highlighting the global achievements of our alumni, the podcast significantly boosted institutional branding and inspired future engineers to pursue advanced research and international career opportunities.
