Dr. Md. Rezwanul Karim
Professor
Dr.Rezwan obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia in 2018. He is a graduate of Islamic University of Technology (IUT), OIC from where he obtained his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He joined IUT as a faculty member in 2009 and currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering. His research area includes Applied Thermal Engineering, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Modelling, Solid Fuel Combustion, Renewable Energy Technologies, Solar Thermal Engineering etc. His major contribution came in Biomass combustion modelling in grate furnace (moving grate and packed bed furnace) utilizing different energy efficient technologies such as oxy-fuel combustion. He has published over 25 peer reviewed journal papers most of which are Q1 ranked and presented his research in many international conferences in home and abroad. His current research project includes CFD modelling of Bubbling Fluidized Bed Combustion using simplified solid-phase coupling, Techno-Economic feasibility of Solar Thermal Power Plants in Bangladesh, CFD modelling of solar thermal collectors etc. Dr.Rezwan is also working as the reviewer of several international journals and organized many international conferences and webinars. He is also working as the advisory panel member of the Institute of Energy and Environment (IEE), IUT OIC. He is also involved working in many administrative bodies at IUT including Assistant Provost (Food), Coordinator of Result Processing at MPE Department, Member of IUT General Examinations Rules Review, OIC Program of Action 2025 Focal Point at IUT etc.
Specialization : Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Combustion Modelling (Grate Furnace, Packed Bed, Fluidized Bed), Renewable Energy, Solar Thermal Technologies.
