The Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering (MPE) is an academic department of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) established to help develop human resources in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation(OIC). It offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes with an annual intake of 120 undergraduate students.
The Department is also involved in technological and engineering research as well as in organizing seminars, short courses, symposiums and workshops. The department has established itself in a leading position in mechanical engineering education in OIC member countries. It offers students a unique hands-on experience in its rich well equipped laboratories and instruction from highly qualified and dedicated faculty. The department always ensures close interaction between students and faculty to extract the best out of the students. It also maintains continuous interactions with industry leaders in areas such as automotive technology, CFD, renewable energy, and power plant engineering which give an added opportunity to the students to acquire strong theoretical foundation and practical experience.​
